T3 stainless 270 Win. Threw some loads together real quick this afternoon consisting of RL-22, 150gr Ballistic Tips, Win brass, and CCI 200s. Loaded up 58.0, 58.5, and 59.0. Only got to shoot the 58.0 before I ran out of light good enough for the chrono but Im going to shoot the others in the morning. Here is how the 58gr'ers shot at about 2800fps

I also loaded up some 150gr SST's with the same weights of powder an hopefully they shoot good too.

But here is my dilema...150gr Btip at 2800+ that shoots like above or......

130gr Accubonds at 2950fps that shoot like this...3 shot group in the white bull, disreguard other two shots

What would you pick for general deer, elk, antelope, rocks, steel, paper, coyotes?

Nice job Deertracker. those groups look like a .270 should look. Since you included elk on your animal list I would pick the 130 AB. The BT is a deer bullet.

Don't you love it?

My 270 WSM does 3160 140 BT .55".

Stop that Fotis. Every time you and Scotty mention your sizzling velocity from those WSM,s I get closer and closer to getting me one. And Dr. Mike smacking moose with the 130 ET. I cant take much more.

Hubcap, come over to the dark side. Generally speaking, the WSMs give some fine accuracy and enough velocity boost to justify the cartridge. And all this without kicking you out from under your hat.

have I mentioned my 30-06 shoots well too?

I love working loads for Tikkas. They make me look like a genius!

Nice results DT! I'd hunt with the ABs and save the BTs for practice or a known LR hunting scenario. Don't consider the 270WSM as your .270Win rifles handle anything you should shoot with them just fine. I had the same gremlin bouncing around my head a few years ago but dispatching a moose handily ended those thoughts.

Now the 7mmWSM with a 160gr AB @ 2950fps....that's another story. :?

DT,

Nicely done.
I would go with the 130 gr AB. Try seating your bullets deeper, you should be able to shrink the group.

DT great shooting. If it were me I would opt for the 150 gr bullets, like heavier for caliber and be done. But in all fairness either one looks like a winner and would serve you well.

I may be wrong but it looks to me that both groups are inline horz and vert. If that is the case the slower load 2800+ is slightly high which is good and the faster load is dead center which is also good. Looks like you could use either one interchangeably and be in great shape.

Well with the 130s, when I first shot them they were on the edge of the target so I moved the crosshairs to hit center. They were shooting way high and right. I should have loaded a few more of the btip loads to shoot this morning again since Im out shooting anyways

Gotcha. Either load will do well for you but since you mentioned elk as an entry on the list of animals that might be sought I would opt for the 150 if it were me.

Without a doubt.. 150 PT's at 3130 are pretty serious medicine as well..

300 yards..

DT! Great shooting buddy! Yeah, the 130 AB's would do everything you need done. That Tikka is shooting really well. Although, I wouldn't be scared of the 150 BT at 2800-2900 either for elk. It is a pretty tough bullet at those speeds.

You wouldn't be disapointed at all buddy. 2950 with a 160 AB is a VERY easy load with the 7WSM. I am actually running them at 3100 and man, they shoot really well. The 7WSM is one of those cartridges that really snuck up on me and man, with the way the 160 AB's shoot in this rifle, it is hard to not wanna hunt with it.
