I've only posted here a few times, but this is a really great forum! Thought I'd throw up a pic or two of my .243. I've been too busy to get going on reloading for it lately but I have been quietly collecting/hording components for it  It's a Savage 12VLP DBM, stainless steel Murphy Precision 10moa 1913 scope base and the scope is a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15 tactical(Mil-dot reticle). I have a box of cheap federal ammo to break the barrel in as soon as I get some cars fixed and other stuff finished around the house  I lost my 7 mag to theft and I'd like to get another one here when the money is there, thinking about a 7mm-08 or a 260 as well....choices, choices!

Lovely rifle. It will be great to pull the trigger on some of your handloads. While you are getting a 7mm-08 and a 260, you might as well plan to save up for a 308, a 338 Federal and a 358 as well. Then, you would have the entire set! :)

Wow, that is a sweet rifle! That is one of the best looking Savages I have seen! I like that one! Scotty

Thanks guys, I'm really itching to start working on some loads. I have 90grn E-tips, 95grn CT ballistic tips and 105grn A-max's to try with H4350, H4831SC, H1000 and IMR 7828SSC. Oh yeah, and plenty of BR2's. I'd really like a 260 as it seems to do everything a 7-08 does but better. I'm just looking for a cheap-ish truck gun however aka Stevens 200 and they only come in .243 or 7-08, no 260. I could put a .260 barrel on for $250 and then a nicer stock for $150 and then.....and then,it adds up....haha. Oh well...

Aren't those Savage' rifles French :?:  Weeee That is nice looking and Savage rifles shoot from what I know!

Nice looking rifle! Let us know how she shoots. Don't hesitate to ask for reloading help, several of us here shoot 243 Win and we are more than happy to share loads with you.
Sorry to hear about the theft. If you don't have a safe, now would be a good time to invest in one. It will give you peace of mind.

The 260 Rem and 7mm-08 are both great rounds.

A safe was my first purchase after that sad day. Working on filling it up now

I'm at my in-laws tonight Pop. I'll get a weight for you when I can. My wife says it's somewhere between heavy and "no way"! haha

Not a Featherweight, but I bet it is a nice platform when you can set the bipod legs down. Scotty

Looks like one heck of a varmint rifle/deer rifle. I like it. Super Sniper scope?

Check this article for a lot of GREAT info on loading the .243 Win: http://www.6mmbr.com/243Win.html

The .243 & 6mm Rem both do an excellent job as multi-purpose cartridges. Not too big for varmints, not too small for deer... Enjoy that rifle, the laminated stock looks great!

They SHOOT!

Now that is some fine shooting. What a lucky coyote to be taken with such a fine rifle!

Coyote probably paid for the privilege. Well, in a way...

Great shooting! There's some nice groups to be seen...

I concur, makes me wanna get a Savage 243 like my 22-250. They are shooters! Scotty

Finally got around to breaking in the barrel and getting it sighted in. I started feeling good about things when the first shot hit paper  Here is the first five shot group out of this gun with the cheapest ammo I could find at Walmart to break in the barrel. I think it has potential...

Yeah, it looks as if you may have found a winner. Just wait until you begin to load for this rifle. That is when things will get very interesting for you!
