Neck bushing question

Ok, so I got my arbor press and Wilson dies from Russ Haydon in the mail today. I took a guess on bushing size when I ordered it and I think I was a bit off. My question is if it matters if it's virgin brass or does it need to be 1x fired to get an accurate measurement for which bushing you need? I seated a 140 Amax into a piece of new Remington brass and measured the outside neck at .290". So I need a .288" bushing? Is that right, or is this number going to change after the brass is fire formed? .260 Rem with a .299 neck reamer.

On a side note my ordering experience was awesome and it was incredibly fast shipping! I would highly recommend doing business with Russ and I will be ordering from him again for sure!

That's correct, though you may want to order a .287 as well in case you find the .288 too loose.

I measured reloads and factory loads, and the outside diameter matched on all of them (Weatherby brass). I still ordered 2 bushings anyway. So, don't worry as long as all your brass is the same.
