I have searched everywhere on the net for an approximate value on one of my rifles which I am contemplating selling. It is an Interarms MkX mannlicher stocked .308. It has a 20" barrel and is the Yugoslavia built mauser action. I don't have the serial # in front of me but I bought it brand new in 1983.

The rifle is a sub-moa shooter that might have 250 rds through it total. I have a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 gloss scope on it as well. The condition....probably 95%+ on wood and 100% on bluing.

I'll post photos tonight when I get home. In the meantime, can anyone give me some ideas what it might be worth with and without the scope? I have no idea if I have a $400 rifle or if I could get $700-$800.

Thanks!

My 26th edition Blue book has it listed.
100%=365 98%=330 95%=305 90%=290

The markX rifles were made in Yugoslavia by Zastava Arms until late 1997

Thank you! I thought it would be worth at least $500 but I guess those rifles aren't thought too highly of.

Here are some photos that show the condition it is in today. It is a safe queen as I also have the exact same rifle in 7x57 (it was my dad's) as well.

Scott, I have the same rifle in 270 Win. Bought mine new in 1979. Extremely well made, and accurate. Wouldn't get rid of mine for any amount. And you have a 7x57 also? Why break up a brace of fine rifles!

You are probably right. I just never shoot my .308 and I'm looking to rebarrel my Ruger .280 Rem into a .280AI with the proceeds - should I decide to sell this rifle. I guess I need to look elsewhere at some of my guns since it doesn't appear to be highly valued per the bluebook. :)

I do have my dad's 7x57 in the same rifle. My mom bought it for him 11/30/82 brand new and his stock is actually darker and prettier than mine. Needless to say, it is a sub moa rifle and shoots lights out! I bought my .308 brand new on 4/30/83.

Trouble wit Mausers is the folks who look to buy 'em all think they came out of Nazi scrap pile so the values are crap, Thats the same action old Man Weatherby used. Piece of junk it aint. That is a nice fine rifle!! Put it in the rack and shoot it (for that price any way IMHO) CL

With that Leupold scope on it I would not take less than $500.00 for it myself. A VXII Leupold 3-9X40 runs new $300 to $350 depending on the reticle they have. Used in the shape yours looks $200 if it is worth a cent. I have learned to NEVER SALE A RIFLE WITH THE SCOPE ON IT. You never get the value out of the scope if you leave it on the rifle. Take the scope off and sale it by it's self and you always will get more for it.

That is a very sharp little rifle, with the full Mannlicher stock. If it shoots that well, it would be hard to let go of. Either way, throw it in the classifieds, with a shot target and see what happens? Never know. Scotty

The rifle is probably a better rifle than value indicates. I'd be inclined to keep it, but Scotty is right to suggest throwing it in the classifieds with a target indicative of what it can do. There are people who appreciate the looks and the quick handling of the little rifles. You may not get all that you want, but who knows?

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll hang onto it and just pass it to my son, along with my dad's 7x57. Heck, my son will wind up getting about 20 rifles when I'm gone anyway.

And, hopefully, he'll carry on the tradition by valuing what he has received in love for the shooting sports and pass that along to his children. Good choice on your part, I do believe.

Nothing wrong with that. I think my son and daughter will be well outfitted when I give up the ghost. Now I just need to get a 375 for my son. I am pretty sure he will want one of those too! Scotty

31st edition blue book lists it at 98% condition $600, With scope it should sell for about $750 - $850. This rifle is a classic and should not be discounted by anyone. It was made from 1984 to 1987 only, so is a fairly rare mark-X giving it a higher value than other 308 Mark-X.

My dad has one in 30-06,had since new, will group any offering any bullet company or reload i throw at it. i love that gun and some day hope to call it my own. :) 8)

I would guess with the Leupold scope on it it would sell for $700-$800 as one person told you. It is not Nazi scrap heap but is a good high quality British Mauser rifle.

My Mark X is a Birmingham rifle also in 7mm Mag and was made into a custom rifle. I have hunted with it ince 1975 and it will shoot very tight groups still, out to 300 yards. Your rifle appears to be in very good condition and should get top dollar in the marketplace.
