Need help with 7x57 load for deer hunting

Hi
Great rifle!
With that shortish barrel, if you are going to be shooting at extended ranges, I would think you are going to want some decent velocity, so I would go no heavier than 140gr bullets. If not, then it really doesn't matter.

If I had to come up with a load in a hurry, I would give Rx-17, W-760, H-414 or IMR4350 a go first. With the ball powders I would include a mag primer in the mix, just to see..

Good luck!

at 7x57 velocities you couldn't tell the difference between the 140 BT, Partition, or AccuBond, the velocity will only create enough energy for so much expansion and any bullet will deal with it well. I'd even try the 120 gr BT, it has a stouter jacket than the rest of the 284 BT lineup, I've had awesome results with it in a 7mm/08

+2 on the 120s. Those made in the last few years have a much thicker jacket, such that terminal performance is far better than you might expect, with penetration as good or better than the 7mm BTs in 140 or 150 persuasion. Additional benefit of these is significantly higher velocity, lower recoil. It even holds up well in the larger cases.

I load my 7x57 ammo with W760 and use the Winchester (standard) WLR primer. They go bang just fine and accuracy is superb.
