What Height Scope rings on a savage axis with 2 piece
weaver bases, with a 3.5- 10-45 obj.

I know it has a high bolt lift, not sure if I
need med. or high.

I don't want to order the wrong rings.

Thanks,

I should imagine that the size of the objective and shape of the ocular will determine which rings you need to order. With a 42 mm objective and small profile ocular, you will be fine with low rings in many instances. If you are using a scope with a 50 mm objective, of necessity, to ensure adequate clearance, you will need at least medium rings. What scope are you planning on using?

DrMike,

It's a Bushnell 3.5-10-45. But doesn't have the adjustable objective.

I'd lean toward putting low rings on your rifle. That is my preference, but that suits the way I hold a rifle. However, speak with the product specialist before you buy. Most of the larger Internet firms have product specialists who are able to provide guidance on which rings you need. What rings are you thinking of putting on? Again, a quick check on the web site will clarify which rings you need on most sites. I know that the people with Talley are very friendly and more than willing to direct you to which product they recommend. They have never steered me wrong. Alternatively, you might correspond with the moderator of the Savage Arms site to see if they have a recommendation.

Ive got a 3=-9x40 Leupold on my savage 14. Im pretty sure these were medium rings. The Occular bell on the Bushnell is going to be larger.

Leupold used to have a chart on there web site for ring height w/ a given scope. perhaps bushnell has one too. I wouldnt presume to disagree w/ Dr Mike, he offers good advice. Height of the bases will also make a difference CL

I put a 3-9 nikon on an axis for a young girl . I needed to buy the offset rings to mount it . the scope tube was to short for the rings that were on the rifle . I don't remember much else about it .

When in doubt order two sets of rings, open the one you think is most likely to do the job then set the lower half on the rifle and check for fit. If you guess right the first time send the others back. Either way you are only out a few dollars for shipping.

I too had to order offset rings to mount a Bushnell 3-9x40 trophy on a stevens 200 (to get the scope close enough to my eye. How'd you make out?

Easy way to get room is a rail IMO.
This is the one I use on a Savage.

Bet that works nice. For the Stevens the offset rings were cheaper and they kept the scope low to the barrel line. Im sure that could be done with that base too. CL

It works well. Their rails for the Savage are pretty good.
I run that on quite a few as it lets me get the scope right where I like it. You can also run low rings on 44mm scopes with it.
