Due to the difficulty I have been having finding some of my old standby powders I have been working up some various loads to use with more readily available powder. I have traditionally used H4350 with the Barnes 270gr TSX. I happen to have an 8lb jug of H414 and was looking to work up a load with this powder as I have a good supply of it.

After consulting a few manuals last night I set up the dies and loaded up a couple of loads.

I loaded up both 270gr TSX and 260 AccuBond. The best load I tried with the TSX was 92.0 gr of H414 with 270gr TSX. Five shot average over the chrony was 2953fps and shot this group at 100yards. Settled on this load for the TSX.

I was feeling pretty good about the TSX load until I tried the AccuBond. I had only loaded up 5 of them at 92.0gr and the first three shot this group at 100 yards, averaging right at 3005fps.

I was pretty blown away by this group. I took what I had left and tried them out at 300 yards. The two top left are the remaining 2 accubonds and the three lower are 270gr TSX. Pretty sure I threw that one to the left. I was pretty shot out by the end of the shooting session.

Wow! I'd hang onto that recipe, for sure. Excellent work. That'll do for about anything you will ever hunt.

The 260 gr AccuBond is a very accurate bullet, it has also done very well in my 375 Ruger. Both of those loads of yours are good and will serve different purposes nicely, congrats.

And if you run out of H414 get Win 760.... Same stuff.

I think you found your load. Nicely done.

Looks like you've stumbled into some very nice alternative loads. Sometimes you can make good from a bad situation.
The TSXs will make a good "pelt" round!
