I just acquired a new .300 Ultra Mag. had a few questions about it. Rem 700 SPS stainless. The for arm is touching the bottom of the barrel, do I need to work on it before I shoot it? Thanks for any help! :?:

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on your 300 RUM. That contact is a pressure point.
I would shoot it and see how she groups.
What load(s) are you shootng?

Welcome to the forum and Happy New Year.

Congrats on your new rifle. I would suggest not doing anything to it. Shoot it as is and if it does not shoot well then we can discuss other options.

I highly suggest 200 grain accubonds with Retumbo or Reloder 25. You should break 3100 fps with either and that is more power for just about anything.

If you have another bullet in mind let me know.

Thanks Guys I am new to reloading. I am just getting into it. Went over to a friends and loaded some 180 gr. acubonds . 94 grs of H1000. I am going to start there. Have not shot it yet.

According to Quickload your starting load is over max. Be careful!

This load came straight out of the book. ??

Charge Weight (in grains) Muzzle Velocity (fps) Load Density
96.0 3225 fps 95%
94.0* 3160 fps 93%
92.0 3089 fps 91%

Don't have the new nosler book, but the sierra shows 96gr max for 180gr bullets and h1000.But that is with sierra bullets not noslers.

If it is straight from the book then you're good. This version of Q/L is acting up a little with the 300 RUM......

Thanks Guys! When I get a press I will be reloading a lot. I have about half of what I need to be set up. Thanks again, and I will let you know how it shoots!
