New Howa Super Deluxe Walnut....

I think it's going to be OK! Not the 1/4" one hole sorta gun; that everyone has on here but me.......... But am happy with it and that's all that
Really matters, I am confident I could smoke a big buck out to 300yds, with it just they way it is....1718304228584.png

Found an old 243 load, we had for 100gr Speer BT, that used 40.5gr of WW 760 so decided to load up a box........ I set the trigger down to 40 oz, and went out to see how it would shoot, that handload. I think it is going to work. What say " the jury" ???

Yep that will work! And that old Speer bullet has been around for years, with its 446 BC it has a proven track record on big game. Should make a great little 243 for us. Brookies are biting, better get back to fishing!

Looks like your Howa is shaping up pretty darned well.

Good to see the old 243 get some face time again. Pretty versatile cartridge and paired up with that rifle seems really nice.

It is Scotty, for short money it has alot going for it, certainly a nice upgrade from my Venture, I was never happy with that 2 position Safety, and had clip issues........ it would shoot moa with right handloads but not nearly like this gun. I do expect I likely will swap fancy Turkish walnut stock out to the Boyd's Laminate when it gets stuck out on the Cub Strut in a scabbard for weeks at a time........ I would still preferred a Model 70 Featherweight if money was no object, but I can have 2 of these Howas for less Dinero than one 70...... And I have never owned one that will shoot as well as these Howas do.
( Although I am fully aware that everyone on here has a Model 70 that shoots 1/4" groups all day long !)

I have a couple Howas. One of my most accurate ones is a 6 Creed barreled action Brownells sold for 250 bucks. I put it in a good stock and the darned thing is a killer. They’re pretty stout actions and I like the safety as well.

Don’t feel bad about the 1/4” Model 70’s. I don’t know that I have one either. Unless I shoot single shot groups.
