New huntress - well, next April...

Always happy to see a female take up hunting. Her non-traditional foot wear looks very sneaky quiet! Probably and excellent choice!
I like the way she mounted that O/U!

we practiced quite a lot until I could look directly in her right eye whenever she took the gun up and aimed for my left eye. And yes, she showed me the empty gun EVERY time before we did that. I drilled her to assume a gun is loaded until proven to be not...

Took a few days off to spend them on the range and she really listens to advice. Had two other women from her course with us once and I was very happy to see how they responded to some advice, though I am far from being an expert shotgun shooter. Both passed the test, too.
Now she has until April to learn the theoretical part, though that will be the easier part. Test will be the day after her 30th birthday, so the party will be delaid I guess...
Rifle she shot 48 of 50 - 4x 10, once 8 and the teacher asked if the 8 was REALLY necessary.

Well, yes. I am just a little bit proud ;-)

Love the looks of those Boots, Good Luck to her, and congratulations! The 308 Win is a good cartridge but does come with more recoil then going down in caliber size..... like the 7mm-08, or 260 Remington, and 243 Winchester.

The 6.5 and 6mm Creedmoor are both great cartridges for factory box ammo and handloading. I'd also think finding ammo would be fairly easy Worldwide too?

She uses the 308 for training and handles it well.
So ne real need to go lower, but an option.
My new one is a Creedmoor, but wrong hand

Congratulate her for us! Women are excellent shots! She definitely proved it! Hope you get to do some bird hunting or spot and stalk!

As long as I can fight it, no Blaser will enter my safe!
They are good, but over-priced, the trigger is integrated into the magazine and you can only use their scope mounts....

The mounts/rings for a Blaser are crazy expensive, but you don't need to buy their mounts, there are Ziegler mounts, and a cheaper equally good setup are contessa.

Its a real pity they don't allow the .243, it will kill any deer you have in Germany, shot placement is the important bit.

It is clear you have given her some great instruction, her mounting of the shotgun shows it.

My $700 Tikka will outshoot my $2200 Sako Finnlight.
It's only entry level by price...... It's far above that for accuracy! Some will shoot right out of the box beside 30 year old Rem 700's that have been trued up and blueprinted with custom stocks and triggers.
My 6.5 Tikka Tx3; will usually shoot one ragged hole at 100yds and that is better than most less than a $1000 rifles without modifacations, generally speaking.

Update: the final exams were sheduled for April 4th. The day after her 30th birthday.
Thanks to the shut-down, they are postponed.
We had a Zoom online party. Strange, but it lasted for six hours!
Btw: she shot my 30-06 Tikka varmint without flinshing the least.

Final exams were Saturday. Started at 8, finished around 16:00 and je finished 3rd in her course (with 3 not passing and maybe some more shooting next week). Must admit I am a little bit poud.
So - time to shop for a rifle!
My Drilling is for sale and she gets the money for the gun...

Yeah, she spent quite some time and did well.
And she REALLY got used to.me doing the household :)
The guy I hunt with (who is a good friend) gave her a roe buck for free, so we start looking for one.
The next weeks we will visit some gun shops to find the right rifle...

Congratulations on a job well done. Now, to find the just perfect rifle for her.

Yeah, finding THE rifle will be fun..
She is 5'10-5'11, so standard stocks should be ok. But that female long neck...
Guess we will settle on a boring 308.
I have all components for handloads and it should be enough for our game.

Of course, that boring .308 somehow manages to get the job done. That would undoubtedly be a good choice.

Our game is up.to 220 lbs field dressed and usually within 200y.
So nothing where a 308 reaches it's limits.

I actually went down to the 6,5 Creedmoor to go with the 30-06.
With trailling dogs at hand, that should be enough.
So will be the 308 with a good bullet!

Congratulations and agreed on 308 being a fine choice... along with many other excellent choices.
