New to mono bullets / 300 Win Mag

Wanted to get back in the game after a small hiatus from reloading. I remembered buying two boxes of 180 TTSX for the 300 Win Mag for those tough nilgai. After neck turning the thick Lapua brass many months ago to fix a high pressure issue, I have pulled 6 cases to size, ran a .307 mandrel through the necks, capped with CCI 250 Mag primers, and going to run a ladder in .5 grain increments. I am new to the mono stuff, if I can remember that Barnes recommends .050" off the lands to start. I have about a pound of RL25 that has been sitting on the shelf for a long time, probably put it to good use just for testing. Are there any advises about using this bullet in the 300 Win Mag? Any crimping needed? I never crimped my bullets. Appreciate any info you guys have .

I usually start at .02 off. My 300 likes it there as does my 338 Jarrett. I have found the TTSX to be pretty easy to figure out. I’m an easy 3/4 MOA with my 300 HH with the TTSX while the 180 etip came in at a whopping 3moa yesterday.
Wish I had 8 pounds of RL 25 but I’ve only enough to load another box of shells.

Seeking RL 25 data besides Quickload, wasn't able to find any. Would the middle charge data from RL 26 be similar to start with?

I run 71.5 gr with a 180 in my 300 HH achieving just over 3000fps. Max for Rl 25 in the 300 HH is 72.5 but that proved a little hot in my rifle.
300 HH has 94% case capacity of the 300 wm.
Extrapolation is iffy sometimes but I’m betting you’re fine between 72 and 76gr. Max.

Speaking of 180s and Rl 25. Shooting on thursday. The ttsx group would have been pretty good except the nut behind the trigger forgot to aim at the bottom of the diamond not the middle. Bringing that high shot straight down would have made the first three shots look pretty good. The E-tip group was about 10 minutes later. Not sure I see any reason to work with Etips in my rifle any longer.

The TTSX group is definitely good to go. Nice shooting Don. The E-Tip needs a lot of jump. If you become curious, try seating them .100" off the lands.

That might explain it. I was off by an order of magnitude at .015 off the lands. I won’t throw them away!

Maybe try 3 at .075" and 3 at .100" off the lands.

Loaded 6 individual charges in .5 increments from 77 to 79.5 grains RL 25. Got some RL 25 data off of Speer and Alliant. Felt a good crunch and seated .050" off at OAL of 3.475". Just to check pressure and velocity, I aim to get it up to 3100 fps, if not more. My 180 Accubonds ran up to 3260 fps at pressure but settled for accuracy at 3125-3150 fps on my last tests. Hopefully get good results. I believe solid copper does not run as fast as cup and core bullets, if not mistaken. I'll check back soon.

My 280 AI Jarrett shot the 168 FB TSX’s the best @ 0.00” believe it or not! No fliers, just rock solid consistency. So don’t always believe what they say, it would have saved a lot of time otherwise.
