Been without one long enough. Guy Miners advertisement of it did not help either!

Rem 700 CDL 25-06! One of the sexiest rifles out there in my opinion.

Always good to be able to blame someone for our foibles. Guy is as good to blame as anyone. He does advocate for the cartridge and the rifle, and that is a handsome one. We'll be looking forward to your range report.

Very nice Fotis! I had one of them. It was very nice, but I think I caught one of the Remington's with issues. Too bad too, cause it was really nice to carry. Plus, it matched my Whelen!

My fault?

I just can't figure out how you're the last cowboy in Wyoming without a .25-06! :?:

Congrats on the new rifle. I'm sorta partial to that whole .25-06/Remington 700 thing... True enough.

Guy

I know right? No 25-06...ought to be a law.

I just hope I do not get a problematic 700....

That one was made when they still made good ones and not mass produced. It should be as good as it looks. Congrats on your New Purchase. How's the snow out there?

Fotis, yours looks like the same vintage as my 35 Whelen, without the monster recoil pad on it. Thinking you might have an awesome shooter like Guy Miner!

Fotis, you are a lucky man I have a real problem staying away from those 700 BDLs and the CDLs.
Congratulations on picking it up. Look forward to the range report with photos of course.

Blessings,
Dan

Congrats on your new .25.

I should have shown you my LH Sendero when I was there; that thing shoots!

It must have been nearly 10 years ago that Remington introduced the 700 CDL. I happened to be in the market for a new hunting rifle and wanted something that was a little lighter, sleeker than a standard 700 BDL, and in an accurate, soft-kicking, fast-moving smallish bore cartridge.

Was seriously considering having a custom sporter built, when I walked into the local gun shop and saw my first CDL. Hmmm... It was a .270 Win, with terrific walnut. Doggone near just bought that one, but I had dies & components at home already for the .25-06, so I ordered one that day. It showed up not long after and has proven to be excellent for my hunting.

Fairly light and sleek, it looks good and carries easily. Accuracy hovers a little below MOA with pretty much any load, and I have a couple of pet loads that do better. Recoil is minimal, and I really enjoy shooting it. Have found it effective on mule deer from 20 - 400 yards. Also take an occasional coyote or rock chuck with it, and it works well for that purpose too. Last year I finally took a pronghorn with mine - which may be a perfect match up of gun and game.

I've loaded the 100's to 3340 fps with no issues, and the 115's at both 3120 and 3190 fps, with good results. Somewhat partial to the 115's, but I'd happily hunt with either bullet weight.

Enjoy that new CDL Fotis, at least for a few weeks! I hope it turns out to be a fine hunting rifle. I sure like mine for the vast, open spaces of central Washington and Wyoming.

Regards, Guy

Congratulations and It is a neat looking rifle , hard to remember when they made a nice rifle but those are some fine looking rifles for sure! I got stuck with a 742 Jam-O-Matic in 30-06 that would shoot a full clip like 3 times the whole time I owned it and looked nice but that was about it. I tried running it with every oil made and even dry and it still did the same old selective Jam-O-Matic routine! Hope your new rifle is a great shooter as it is for sure a good looker !! which optik ya going to throw up top?

I do think the 25-06 is the quintessential pronghorn gun.

I have a sightron mil dot and a burris FF2 ballistic reticle. Both are 3x9.

Which would you pick for now?

I like those FFII's. I think they are a good scope for the money and their LR type reticle is pretty useful too.
