New Winchester Supreme 780 powder

Just got a pound of the new WInchester Supreme 780 powder. Should work sweet in my Sako m75SS 300WM and Tikka T3 LS 270WSM with 180gr & 140gr Accubonds.

Same powder Winchester uses in their SUPREME line of ammo.

Anyone else try this yet in the 300WM or 270WSM?

Now to get starting loads off the Winchester / Hodgdon Site.

Retumbo worked sweet inmy 270WSM and RL22 for my 300WM, but why not experiment. RL22 didnt work so good in my hunting buddy's Sako m75SS 300WM like it does in mine, so we will try this.. Was going to try Retumbo and H1000 but I'll use the 780 powder first as his rifle shoots the factory WS Accubonds good.

I have some of the old 780BR and it works okay in my 30-40 krag, but
reloder19 is more accurate and a bit faster.

I have not seen exactly where it lands on a burning rate chart.

........................Looking right now in my new `08 Hodgdon Reloading Manual magazine...........They show the burn rates of 117 powders (1 thru 117), #1 starting as the fastest burn......Win. 780 is #102 on the list.... H4831 and H4831SC is #101.... Reloader 22 is #104....IMR 4831 is # 98......Reloader 19 is # 97....IMR 7828 is # 107......H1000 is # 109..................That should give you a real good idea as to where 780`s burn rate is!

I won't even bother trying any new Winchester powders. In my experience, every time they offer a good one, they discontinue it. Remember W-785? Or how about WMR? Or their latest short term offering, WXR? If they run true to form, about the time you work up some truly wonderful loads, you won't be able to locate any more of the "magic" powder your favorite rifle just fell in love with. I hate it when rifles get jilted! So I will continue to buy bulk powder and hope for the best. At least that way if they do work well, I can enjoy them for a few years before I run out. And I accept the fact that it was a limited run.
