New Years Feast

For many years it has been black-eyed pea casserole and bread pudding with butter sauce. Since it is also my birthday, I get to call the shots on the meal. This year, a taste of home--chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes with milk gravy, corn, and bread pudding with butter sauce for dessert. Can't ask for better luck than this.;)

I like my bread pudding with a New Orleans touch, Rum sauce.

I don't think I've ever had black eyed peas , I'll have to google up some dishes to see what it looks like .

my family didn't get together for news years this year . we gathered at my Mom's for Christmas , and we got the flu . Mom was the only one that didn't get sick . she is going to have us together after we heal up .

my younger sisters husband always put on a feast for the family . he laid out a spread like he was feeding an army . the next day he would divide up the leftovers and deliver care packages . we would eat at this food until we were afraid it was too old . my did he over cook . one of the things he always made , and I enjoyed a lot was some kind of a German noodle . he made a dough shaped in a ball . he then ran the dough ball over a cheese grater and the grated noodle fell into the pan and was pan fried . that was one dish I couldn't leave alone .

lot's of good memories . Happy New Years you guys !

We have black eyed peas, ham and corn bread as well, I actually asked why once. She's from eastern Kentucky, don't recall the explanation but the cue words, yankee and damn yankee followed by "bless your heart" were part of the conversation. I once made a mistake by expressing my ignorance about Bourbon, southern girls have some powerfulfeelings on some things. I love black eyed peas and corn bread. Now.
Happy new year. 🎊
