I really like my 416 Wby so I can t see going with a 416 RM.
Mine has a brake so its not bad off the bench. I did shoot it with out the brake and it does rock
your world. I must say that although the recoil is stout, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Very nice looking rifle Oldtrader. I had a friend, several years ago when I was an early teen, who had one like that in 375 H&H. He offered to let me shoot it but back then I did not have the intestinal fortitude. Especially after I saw it slap him around. Sure wish I could shoot it now.
RTH, mine is not too bad to shoot, actually it is kind of fun! Recoil is about 35 ft. lbs. with 286 Partitions at 2400 fps. This model that I have is about 1/2 pound lighter than the .375H&H. The 9.3 delivers about 4200 ft. lb. of energy which is plenty to kill elk. Accuracy so far, is about 1-1/4 MOA but I am still working up loads.
That's the rifle I will add to the safe when I can find any good excuse to add it!
I love the sights on the Safari's. My eyes are still young enough to utilize them pretty decent. It would have a set of Talley's with a low powered variable for most of the real work though. I like that 416RM though. Not sure why, but it is a pretty slick cartridge and just "looks" pretty fun...
George, that is a beautiful 470 brother. That's one of the cartridges I'd love to have if I were building a boomer.
