This is the next 175gr bullet I am going to work with in my 26" bbl 7mm Rem Mag/WW Brass/Fed 215M/R33. I got great results with this combo with the long Sierra 175 SBT but I just have to try this longer, sweetheart of a slick bullet! I am going to start out about .100" off the lands, anybody done this before? I am strictly basing this off my results with the 150 ABLR in the .280 ( 7mm Express) That caliber shot the 168 ABLR .030" off the lands very well. I don't want to waste time/components with this one. If, for some reason, it does not shoot well at .100" off the lands I will then try some at .030" off and see. This is one beautiful bullet!

Have not tried that bullet - was always very impressed with the Sierra SPBT, and Nosler's good old 175 grain Partition bullet from the 7mm Rem mag.

Looking forward to your results!

Guy

The 175 Partition is third on my list. I really liked that R33 with the heavies in this caliber too. I also really enjoyed my 7mm Express ( .280) but when I wanted more velocity I decided to jump on up to the Rem Mag and this 26" bbl. No fireforming, just load and shoot...even factory loads are everywhere today, as you know.

The 175 grain Sierra GK accounted for quite a number of animals when it was launched from my 7 RM. I have no doubt that the 175 grain ABLR will work wonderfully in that cartridge.

That would be a skookum combo if it shoots Jim. Really like the 175's from the bigger 7's..

I could not get the 140 AB to shoot in my featherweight .280 at all until I backed it .050 off the lands and used RL19 powder. Unfortunately, I did both at the same time, so I can't say for sure which really did the trick. But based on all other previous groups that were at .010 off the lands, I'd say the AB bullet preferred to have some jump. So I'd say starting out at .10 off would be a good place to start.

My experience with AccuBonds across a rather wide series of platforms would lead me to recommend allowing more, rather than less, jump to the lands. I routinely begin my tests with AccuBonds at 0.100 inches off the lands if possible.

I'm all loaded up now with this 175 and also some 338 Federal Speer 200 loads. I was going to the range yesterday but an older church member had a mild stroke. She is recovering in critical care now, plus I had to sign some more papers for my Mom (she will be 91 in September and is "fading"), so I go by her nursing home to visit her everyday/check with the nurses. I will eventually get there, I "need" the trigger time for my own "stress relief" therapy, ha.

Hope your able to get out soon Jim. I understand the need for range therapy!

Well, I did get 3034fps from these with 78gr R33, but had unexplainable flyers. The first two ( waiting 10 minutes between shots too) went into around .6", and I was getting happy. The 3rd shot was +3" out! I have no idea. The 77 and 77.5gr loads went into around 1.75" so I'm done. The sierra 175SBT gave less than an inch with every load I tried, I don't need the hassle of these finicky ABLR 175s. somebody trade me something for the rest!!???

I was looking over my notes on this new barrel (26" Remington SS). I think for this rifle, I am just starting to get this long bullet spinning right when I run out of pressure limit. I get wonderful results with the much shorter Sierras and such. Maybe if I was using them in my old 7mm RUM I could get them spinning right, as it is, I think I am at the limit for my barrel/7mm Rem mag. Nothing wrong with the bullet, its just a long baby! ha

I've not had the greatest luck consistency wise with any of the LRABS yet...they seem to be very picky to shoot accurately consistently so far in my findings, 1 in 7mm, and 3 300 win mags.

Same here Jorey.

Before you give up. Take the best load and shoot a 5 shot group at 300yrds. See if it settles in.
