Can anybody tell me what the parent chase is for this new cartridge from the Nosler family?

Regards,

Yep, shortened 404 with a rebated rim very similar to the Ultra Mags and SAUM.

All the other forums are convinced it is a necked down 375 Ruger.

Which to me makes the most sense as the Ruger case has 96 grains case capacity and the Nosler has 93.

The 7mm Dakota has 95 though so who knows. I have not seen any case dimensions that show the case body in front of the rim.

If its very close to the 375 Ruger then how can it be based off of a shortened 404 Jeffery? The 404 has a rim size of .534" and is .550" at the base and tapers from that point. the 375 Ruger is has a .532" rim size and is 532" at the base and tapers from that point. That doesn't make much sense to me is it a 404 Jeffery or is it based on a 375 Ruger? Only way to know is for nosler to release the actual base size, this would tell us which case it is truly based off of.

True. The case capacity will still be close though. Its too close to be able to guess the case just knowing the Nosler case has 93 grains capacity. I still think it is a 375 Ruger case LOL.

Why doesn't Nosler just release the base and shoulder diameter so we can find out what brass we can make it from. To me im still thinking its a 375 ruger necked down just because of the rim size. it would be stupid to take RUM brass push the shoulder back then have to trim the base from .534 to .532 just my $.02

7 Rum is the parent case

That's what Jennifer Holbrook told me at the Eastern Outdoor Show. Here's a pic with me holding one that was made from a custom Nosler 7mm Rum case. She also said it took four different steps to form the casing.
Cute little Devil. The casing not me :!:

We will get the SAAMI drawing posted ASAP, but the cartridge is ultimately based on a 404 Jeffrey. DO NOT attempt to make 26 Nosler casings from 375 Ruger brass. The 375 Ruger is smaller in both base, and body--fire forming 375 Ruger will weaken the case wall, rending the casing unsafe.

Hope that helps answer some of the questions! Again, SAAMI drawings to come in the next 24 hours or so.

Has it been 24 hours yet?? HA! Sorry for the delay--waiting to get the proper drawing that reflects the "SAAMI Approved" status. Should have it shortly.

Also to clear things up, it actually takes 14 steps to form 26 Nosler brass from 7mm RUM brass.

Thanks Shawn.
Mason told me 14 steps, that is a lot of prep time.
