Well guys, I tried to find a copy here in Regina and was unsuccessful so I order one on line from Mid-South Shooters. The cost was 21.99 which is a great price this morning I got a email from them advising me that it was going to cost $35.00 to ship it :(.
I think that I may be cancelling the order and waiting for it to arrive here in Regina.

Blessings,
Dan

Book sales in Canada are always pricey. The postal delivery can up the price dramatically. I just bought a couple of updates for QL. The cost for the DVDs was $31.90. S&H was $30.56. Someone is making a killing. Then, when the discs arrive, Canada Post will ding me $5 for the cost of collecting duties and the HST on the total purchase, including S&H, will be $7.50. The total cost for two discs for QL will be $74.96. So, my $15.95 update will have cost me $35 before it is finished.

gotta love Canuckastan some days. Free trade my butt..... maybe for the billion dollar companys, the little guy still pays thru the nose.

...maybe you should consider the "On-Line" version???

Superb suggestion, Gene. That never occurred to me. Fortunately, I was able to secure a copy through the generosity of one of our members.

My problem with on line version is I will put it somewhere
in cyberspace :( and will never find it again .
I have trouble spelling computer let alone use one.

I may have to call on a friend below the 49th send the money & have them mail it to me

Blessings,
Dan

Waiting to here the cost and postage and then I will send down a money order

You want some highway robbery, I stopped into my local shop and they had the new manuals out. Midway has both for $21.99. The price on these was $35 each!

They do it because they can get away with it. Consequently, we'll pay that much and more by the time they get up here.

If my memory is right I believe that I paid around $35.00 for the Nosler #6 book as well.
I have been able to order in items from Cabelas in the US cheaper than I can get from them here in Canada. I wrote a letter to the main store in Winnipeg and they said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do to change it.
So I order the things I can from the US and it most cases it is same price or cheaper than here and it does not have to be special ordered.

Dan

Know anybody coming to the states for Christmas? Might be an easy way to get your book hand delivered? Just a thought, because I would NEVER want to beat the gov't out of their share. (Note I did not say, "fair share")

In Canada, when Canada Post delivers a parcel (even a book), they collect GST and PST, and then charge $5 for the privilege of collecting the tax. They aren't getting cheated. Here's the thing, it is still cheaper than buying from local stores!

Sales tax and customs inspection "fees" are really hit and miss. The last 4 packages I have received from the US have cleared the border without any hassle or costs. Nothing like playing the border bingo game. ;) LoL

With that said I finally had the 7x61 Sharpe and Hart brass I had an importer order for me arrive. I guess the American Homeland Security people decided - after a 3 month hold on their side of the border  - that a lone Canadian Redneck armed with a 60 year old Schultz & Larsen rifle was not a threat to the peace and security of the American people.

Cariboo, HS can really be capricious. You are correct that Canada Post is hit or miss on collecting duties and fees. It is about fifty-fifty for me. However, they surely don't miss the big orders. The postie stands there, asking for plastic or cash and I get squat until he has been satisfied.

I can tell with the Mail Store in the shopping Center, near where I live. You can not get close to it now, even to park near this store now with all of the Asian Canadians picking up all of their purchases and packages in Blaine. It makes our little shopping center look like downtown Hong Kong!
