Started my load work this morning with my 7mm-08 for identifying a hunting load in the 140gr weight. Think I have one for this weight bullet. 140gr AccuBond, Nosler brass, Fed 210 pirmer, W760, loaded with a Lee die.

First a few more pictures of the M48 TGR

I am really turned on by this rifle. All the targets I shot today using 140gr AccuBond, 130gr Speer and 145gr Speer were all under an inch, also using these powders today, W760, Rl-17, H414, Bl-C2. I got 3077fps with the 130gr bullets using RL-17 and 2928fps using the 145gr Speer and RL-17 but accuracy was barely under an inch and extreme spread and deviation was unacceptable. All in all a very good day with lots more fun to be had with load work, but since I am so hard pressed for time, the 140gr AccuBond will be used this season for my hunting.

I still have other bullets and powders that will be tested during the winter months from the end of January to May. The rifle shoots anything I put in it so this rifle will also let me be very picky about what loads I will accept.

Well I think you have taken all the fun out of trying new loads
That is some excellent shooting.

Blessings,
Dan

No, not at all, because I am going to identify the best load for the 150gr BT and 130gr SBT Speer and 145gre Speer and last but not least the 140gr Partition.

You are certainly off to a great start. That is excellent performance.

I know you do not want to hear it but you're done!

You truly are no good FOTIS, nothing but a party pooper

Who say's synthetics are always ugly. Good lookin' shooter. Well balanced with that fixed power scope. Man! one hole group first rattle out of the box. Where to you go from there? Good luck with the other loads.

A beautiful stick of wood that won't shoot is not all that attractive. Synthetics have some definite advantages, and when they shoot well, they can become positively lovely.

You know I love Blued/wood rifles but this really is a beautiful rifle with the color of the stock and the finish on the metal parts. This Nosler M48 looks like Miss America and makes my 300Win Savage 116FHSS look like Oprah Winfrey and even out shoots my Savage.

I'm gonna disagree with nearly everybody here. If it shoots that well right off the bat, what's she gonna do when you have a little more time to figure her out? I can foresee some groups that you carry around in your wallet!

Scotty and BL were telling me how attractive and well made this rifle is. "now i see" great lines and it shoots also. Hummmmmmmmmmmm!

I am going to the range Friday because it will be around 38 - 45 degrees during my shooting session to confirm the load work I have done to see if consistency is the order of the day with this rifle and the 140gr AccuBond. If it is, then I will use the load for hunting and wait till after the first of the year to play with other possibilities. I know this will be hard for FOTIS to believe, but I need a rest from load work with my busy schedule of work and hunting for the rest of this year.

Does the grip on these have an appreciable swell, Scotty has a rifle with a Bell and Carlson stock that has a pretty substantial grip swell. My hands are small and I really do better with a much smaller grip.

I had a Bell & Carlson on my 30-06 Mark V and it had a substantial grip swell, but the Bell and Carlson stock on the Nosler does not have that big swell.

That's nice and warm yesterday morning it was 8 and it hasn't been cold yet I try and develop my loads in the summer when its 105 to 115. Rather than 32 to -40.

I don't but have, because I don't like sweating, I like it cool, plus my barrel cools down faster.
