I would prefer that someone from Nosler answer this question. I reload for 6 different center fire calibers and shoot mostly .270, .30-06 & .338 Win Mag. Love them all and only use Nosler Partition bullets for hunting. Last night I was loading for my .30-06. As a rule, I try to match bullet weights into groups. I'm a little anal about detail but when I weighed the bullets in the new box of 165 Gr. Partition bullets I had just opened the weights ranged from 164.4 to 165.5 grains. I only found about 15 bullets in the box that weighed 165 grains. This kind of disturbes me. It seems like too much variation. This rifle shoots m.o.a. groups and last Sept. I killed two Caribou at 381 yds., each wiith one shot, back to back. Since I had loaded these rounds myself I knew that the loads were matched and what they would do. My problem is that I'm buying a box of 50 bullets and I can only count on 15 of them to be suitable for good quality handloads. I have experienced the same variation with both my .270 and my .338 but this last box was farther out of spec than any before.
What should I expect and do I have to buy 200 bullets to get 50 of the same weight? I'd appreciate an answer. (My scale is an RCBS Powder Pro and it's calibrated.)
