I’ve got an Encore in 30 TC and I just ordered some solid based 150’s to try in it, both the regular soft points and the round nose bullets. I don’t hunt anything except deer and I’ve never shot 100 yards. I would probably just use the RN bullets but I’m wondering if they are intended for 30/30 velocity rather than .308 Win velocity? Anyone shot the RN solid base bullets from a .308 or 30-06? I haven’t looked to see what was available for loading data but I will probably load them on the low end of whatever I find.

I wouldn’t even worry about using 30-30 170’s or even 150’s in it. The 307 Win has been doing it for years and most folks seem to like the effect.

Those 150 gr RN are the Ballistic Tip for the 30-30. Just stay off the shoulders and they will work.

I don’t think it’s the round nose ballistic tip, they have one in the solid base line.
I think you missed JD's point. I may be wrong tho!!

RememberBaker, My father always said, if you have something that works why change horses in mid-stream. Personally, I'd keep dancing with the "girl" that I brought to the dance! That's my opinion, however, its worth exactly what you paid for it..

I ment to say similar to the Ballistic Tip.
Run one into the water jugs to see how it performs. Keep it in the slats and you’ll be fine. Should be a quick killer on deer.

I still shocked to see someone has a 30 T/C. Any of those bullets would work well, but I think I'd lean towards the 150gr Spitzer Solid Base personally.
