Odor from the Powder after reloading

Rod,

It is deep! We had a major dump a week ago. I cleared about eight to twelve inches off my drive in two days. Now, there is lot's of time on my hands. Ergo, I'm able to invest time in thinking (always a dangerous pursuit). What some may consider to be esoteric pursuits (biochemistry of memory, biochemistry of smell, biochemistry of sight) were areas of special interest in bygone years. I was also intrigued by biochemical weapons, though I spent a majority of my time working in bioregulation and enzymology. Wow, this is almost as good as being back in a rousing seminar! Maybe I'll go shoot tomorrow, and that will break the evil spell.
DrMike I have just one request, Please go shoot tomorrow!

Good suggestion. I believe I shall indeed go shoot. I have four rifles awaiting attention (270 WSM, 7 RM, 7 STW and 7 RUM). Living in the banana belt as I do, I had better get out to the range before the jet stream moves back to more tradition patterns and warms you fellows whilst cooling our ardour.

Dr. Mike, that is what I do when my 40 years of engineering background kicks and nobody knows what I am talking about, I go shooting. You are starting to spell like a Canadian (odour). Eh!

I have been utterly Canadianised (realise, eh, odour, neighbour, etc.). However, after thirty-one years, strangers still ask me what part of the southern (SOW-THERN) US I come from.

I got tied up with editing television programmes. Shooting has been put off for a day or two. I have five to tote to the range now--7mm RUM, 7mm RM, 7 STW, 270 WSM and 260 Rem. I'm working tonight to complete all the loads for testing. Provided we don't have rain tomorrow, I'll go. I hate shooting in the rain when it is cold.

If you want to you can send those 7mm's down my way and I can test them out for you.

Nah, Homeland Security would get their knickers in a knot. I'll shoot them myself.

Hey DON, sorry about stealing the thread there for a while. Like everyone else stated I wouldn't worry about it either. Maybe try a lee crimp on the bullet and you could possibly put a primer sealant in the back and see if that will eliminate the powder smell coming from the bullet. GOOD LUCK!

Don, don't worry about it. I use Retumbo with my 338 Lapua and yeah, I smelled it too every time I open my ammo boxes. Smells like ether to me.

Yeah Corbin,
My thoughts exactly.Been thinking about the purchase of the sealant too.
I'm getting a kick out of the dialog on this thread. Since hunting season for the most part has ended Cabin Fever seems to have set in !!
