OH Scottyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.....

That's just mean :p there are going to be a few guys here that will like that one :)

“RARE” Brand New in Box, a Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather Stainless Steel. Professionally re-barreled to a hard hitting 358 Norma Magnum.

I'm sure that this is just my anal-retentive German Virgo nature getting the best of me grammatically, but just how 'rare' is a standard, run-of-the-mill, magnum boltface M70 that somebody rebarreled? And how can it be Brand New in Box when it has an aftermarket barrel? A new tube seems, to me at least, to be a pretty significant alteration from BNIB. Yahoos who let adspeak run amok annoy me. It's an EW that's been rebarreled. I don't need to read an ad the length of a Tom Clancy novel for you to tell me that.

Outside of that, it looks like a pretty cool rifle. I would think a seven pound .358 Norma would let you know when it went off!

How do they get away with advertising as though it were produced in New Haven by Winchester? Neat cartridge, and the only way I'll get one is to build it. Still, that is deceptive.

I'd rather have a Shilen on it than a Win tube....truth be told

This is just CRAP! Man! Talk about my kinda rifle! I need to go hide my head in the sand!

I bet it will shoot!

You are correct, Fotis, that the Shilen is a better barrel; especially if this represents one of the old New Haven actions.

He called it BNIB "Winchester Model 70". This too me is a distortion of reality. Besides the rules for all the dealers, in Washington at least, do not allow you do call any rifle that has been delivered to a customer's hands as BNIB, only LNIB. Plus, it is only partly a Winchester Model 70. It may be a nice rifle and probably is BUT.............

This reminds me of Ebay!

Scotty,

That would be one nice rifle to get for your "Promotion" gift.
It would complete your 35 cal collection too.

scotty pass on this one. if you look at what your getting the guy is getting all the money for it. shilen, bell and carlson and a stainless mod 70 action for 2000. spend another 500-700 and go full custom. that way you will get exactly what you want and recourse if the accuracy is not up to snuff.

Ad should read....

"Run of Mill Win M70 EW bought off rack at local sporting goods store. Caved to "magnumitis" and sent it down to the local smith who screwed a .358 Norma Mag tube on it against his better judgement. I shot it and found out it kicks like H3LL and blacked my eye with the State of the Art Trashco scope and now I'm scared to death of it. My wife is going to kill me when she finds out what I spent on this thing and the crate of ammo when the CC bill comes...please bail me out."

...just sayin'.

With that kind advertising I could sell my like new 721, 35 Whelen with the Brown Stock, and Shaw barrel. For like new! After all the stock a barrel are pretty new. Did we see a Classic Model 70 there not long ago with a push feed action for $1200?

I am actually still selling, anybody want a 50 cal traditional MZ (LNC) ?

Maybe I'm missing something on the ad but I don't see anything representing New Haven.

Extreme Weather Win 70's have all been made in the FN plant. Who knows if they used some left over bolts or something from New Haven, but I can tell you this much...all Extreme Weather Model 70's are from the FN plant and all have an adjustable trigger that Joe Donuts can adjust at home....and they promote that heavily. FN....cough cough...Winchester is really proud of this trigger

You are not kidding about that Jim. I think it is a little too steep though. I could do the same thing and not be in it that much. I do like the looks of it though. Very sharp rifle.

We can build one better than that price.

Start buying the pieces one by one. Before you know it it costs nothing

That is the plan! Long range plan that is!

then you can do whatever you want like maybe a 358/375 ruger? that sounds like that would work too.

That is my second thought too Jeff. I like that 375 Ruger case. Just a little scared of Hornady brass, but I am sure it would be fine for this rifle. I am not building a bench gun, so maybe the brass would be fine. Just gotta find the action I wanna use...

Scotty why do people pick on you?
It is a nice rifle but if it was a lefty it would be almost perfect :)

Blessings,
Dan
