Ok E-Tip - I Might Be Insane According To POP :)

Shot the 150gr E-Tip today and here are the groups and velocities. Will work on the 180gr next.

150gr E-Tip CCI250 primers, win brass, IMR4350, 3255fps, group is .633", Temp at firing was 57 degrees.

Yeah, not bad, very encouraging, and I will shot some five shoot groups to confirm.

If the groups hold up out to 500yds, you've got it handled, Mike. I'm curious - I was thinking the 300WinMag was a tad faster than 3250-3300fps with a 150gr, and wondering if that was velocity lost with the E-Tip, but then I did some looking and online sources are showing 150gr loads right in that range. Hmmm...

I figure I am about 1gr to 1 1/2 grs from max load with the E-Tip. I did get it to 3300fps but accuracy began to go down hill. I can certainly live with 3281fps with a 150gr E-Tip from a 300Win mag with a 24" barrel. :)

Nice job MIke and I don't think almost 3300 fps is too shabby at all! What's to complain about with that kind of velocity and just over 1/2 inch groups!

Nothing to complain about, except that I am annal retentive when it comes to loads, so will tweak this load. I have got to shoot it again to see it's real potential since I know for certain that the trigger dropped before I was definitely set. But this was much easier than the last time I shot E-Tips out of my 30-06. This Savage is not picky at all.

Looks great Mike..

PS always load the 4rth verifier man!

Got a group of five for that load to shoot in the morning, going to verify for sure. Also, going to the range with 180gr E-Tips also.

OK, my 150gr E-Tip load is for real. Four shot group still about 1/2". The 180gr although at 3030fps is just a tad under 1" and it needs a lot of work. But that said, I am taking a break from reloading and load development so you all won't see much of me on the forum, just from time to time. bullet Mike :)
