old redfield

A friend of mine has a old redfield scope with the piece like a range finder in it has anyone seen or used one if so NEED HELP on how to use it

Yes. It is the accutrac model. Came in 2-7 3-9 and 4x12 and 6x18.
Featured 2 horizontal stadia lines that you were suppose to fit a deer's body in by turning the power ring. Also displayed in the viewer was a scale of #'s ending at 600 (yards). When you fit the body in the stadia you read the distance on the scale and turned elevation turret to that distance. Scopes did come wiht 3 turrets to accommodate 3 different ballistic families.
