Awesome pictures Bill, although, they never quite do the terrain justice. It is steep country.

None of our pics from the past two years does those mountains justice!

Good shooting! Nothing like a full freezer. Nothing wrong with earning your meat and you certainly did in this case.

Thank you all for your comments. It was a great trip and it is my pleasure to share it with you all.!

It's a good hunt that ends with a tender young bull in the freezer. The tough carry out will fade from memory with time but the memory of the hunt will live on. Congrats on a sucessful hunt and thanks for sharing with those of us (ME) that aren't as skilled at outsmarting those elk.

Jeez, Greg, with the yahoos I hunt with, over time the pack out will begin to take on mythical proportion, if not actually having us near death!

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Ain't that the truth! I believe there are some politicians who hold the opinion that the truth should never detract from their story.

I consider this pack out to be average. I have had much tougher, mostly longer. I have now packed three bulls up on that that same ridge. Luckly all were about the same distance down. One was larger so I took longer, but got the last load out using a headlamp. I have had several where the distance and elevation was such that only one trip was possible in a day. I believe the last one of those was in Idaho, in 07. He was a four or five year old bull, in, slightly over 4 miles and up 1800 feet. My GPS put him at 8800 or so feet. I started hiking in just after daylight. Had my lunch at the bull then was back to the trail head about 3 pm. I don't mind packing, for me its just part of the experience!
