I get invited to hunt in Michigans Upper Peninsula on a friends private hunting land each year. There are 2 brothers, a brother in law, 2 nephews my son and I who hunted from Nov. 15-21. Not many deer were seen by us, nor people we talked to....so we felt very fortunate to be able to hang these bucks on our buckpole this year. I had just bought a .270 a few months ago and decided there would be no better time to put it to use than now....it did not dissapoint.

That is a great picture that will be treasured for years to come. Thanks for sharing. And which one did you tag?

Congratulations to your UP deer hunt, you fellas did much better than most UP hunting camps!
Where about are you hunting in the UP? I hunt the eastern end and the numbers are way down from 2 hard winters, wolves and tribal tags.

Looks like you guys did OK. I have talked to some hunters over in Minnesota that only managed 1 or 2 deer for a party of 7 hunters.

Congrats on a successful year.

It looks like you did real good. The hunt is what it is about and it sound that a good time was had by all.

Blessings,

Mike, I got the spike. I had really contemplated whether to shoot or let it go, but given what everyone had been saying about deer numbers this year I decided meat in the freezer was more important than bone mass

JD, we hunt right on the Delta/Schoolcraft county line. I lived in that area for 24 years.

I know the area. I hunted north of Rapid River for 20 yrs. I shot countless deer in Delta county.
No I hunt the head waters of the Cut River.

We used to hunt in Perkins, my brothers wife is from there, my other brother lives just north of Rapid River on 41.

Seems as usual it was hot or cold for hunters in the U.P. Congrats on your very good success and having a good season. Enjoy that U.P Venison. 8)

Great picture. Brings back memories of the good old days. All the "other" camps used to look like that.
