Penetration testing

"You would think half inch steel would be cover??????"

Yes, one would think so... Until somebody with a rifle started blazing away at it...

The big boomers definitely make you think about every you were told in Basic, infantry school and your units. I had an old crusty 0331 Gunny tell all of us before a deployment that if all we have on hand is machine guns while being attack by thin armor vehicles "Let'em Eat Boys". Basically shooting the vehicle even though it's armored. I think the term is "Spaulding". Bullet strikes exterior and cracks/fragments armor on the interior. In hopes that shower of fragments hits bad guys inside.

Want a interesting test for a hunting bullet, use one 1 gallon milk jug and fire any lead based big game hunting bullet into at 100 yards. So fare this is
what I have Found, yes they blow up the jug, but check out the exit hole, it is the same as entry hole. Now shoot a tsx or ttsx into another filled jug at same distance, usually the jug will leap towards you as it blows up, now check the exit hole. It will reveal the cross pattern of the opened up tsx bullet. The cool factor was see the jug leap toward the shooters direction.Mind you I have yet to use a mag rifle for this test, but have use as slow as the 30-30 for this test.

6mm Remington that's great luck with the Partition, I think I'll let the daughter shoot her moose with the 90 grn e-tip this year, was not sure about the 80 grn ttsx. I always like a little more sectional density when shooting heavy boned animals. I might even consider 120 grns if I can get some.

The 240's will eat a vehicle to pieces. It is amazing how much carnage is present after they are fired up. The M2's are even more dramatic! Scotty

That's what our Gunny was talking about. If we ran out of AT-4s to light them up with the 240s. All we had was 240s and no M2s. Also told that older Russian tanks could be fragmented on the inside by shooting them with 7.62 machine gun fire.
