I doesn't have the scope on it I want (VX3 2.5-8X36), but it will do for now. Winchester M70 FWT .30-06 SS Classic, McMillan Hunters Edge blind mag stock, Talley LWT low mounts, Leupold VX-II 3-9X40. Now I'm just waiting on the matching .338-06 to be built and I'll be ready for anything!

Now I just have to find time to shoot it!

Sweet rig. I've had my eye on one of those edge stocks for my 280, feel free to tell us all about it, pros/cons?

I don't know what it weights my good scales are packed away in storage.

2lbs 13oz for the action
2lbs 8oz for the barrel
22oz Hunters Edge Stock
4.5oz Talley LWT
12oz Leupold scope

Total weight somewhere around 7lbs 8oz as sits, since I don't have bottom metal maybe a little lighter.

I have the exact same stock as pictured on my Remington 700 35 Whelen, it is very comfortable, slim in the fore end and points great. No cons IMO, pricey but well worth it.

I bet your 30-06 comes in a bit lighter than you think considering the contour of the barrel and no bottom metal. Man that's a nice mountain gun, very nice.

Paid $375 for that stock, I haven't ordered a new stock for either rifle. This one was slightly used when I bought it. The stock I'm putting the .338-06 in is new but I paid $425 for it and it is actually inlet for a Montana 1999 action.

I lost the rifle already!

My recently 10 year old daughter has already laid claim to this rifle. When she saw it she said "ooh what is that" I told her it was my new elk rifle. She picked it up and matter of factly said when she is old enough to hunt elk it will be her elk rifle.

Yup! Daughters can do that to you. Does this mean the stock will be painted ... pink? purple? chartreuse?

Looks slick! Sounds like you might have to get yourself another rifle if your daughter snags that one. . . darn it! :p

At least she has a good taste in rifles.

Heck yeah! That rifle looks excellent. I bet a guy would love to have that rifle at the end of the day of humping all over the mountains.
