After those pictures I need to get out and do some damage. Heading out in the morning to Clearlake (North central California) for a guided pig and free lance coyote hunt. I'll try some calling.

Good luck Greg. I was born and raised in Vallejo,Cal. Used to hunt all over that part of Northern Cal. I remember keeping a close eye out for rattlsnakes while hunting those blacktails. I recall shooting more snakes than deer.

The snakes are out and about for sure now that the weather is warming into the 80s.
I'll be using the 300 RUM with 180 A/Bs. I'd like to try out the 350 Rem but I just worked up the loads and it's rough sited at 100 yds. I need to sight in to 200.

Greg,

Good luck. The 300 RUM with a 180 gr AB will be "Smoked Bacon".

Good luck on the hunt -
Don't you think the 300RUM is a little big for snakes though ?

Not those Ca rattlers. I have seen them stretch across the roads on Camp Pendleton. Scotty

I wasn't going to shoot the rattlers with the 300 RUM. That would be crazy. I got the 416 Wby for that
