I've been working on this rifle for a neighbor kid that comes over and helps me out around the place. It's just a simple M670 Winchester in .270 Win barreled action I had . I found a used McMillan Winlite stock an spot bedded the recoil lug. Threw a Burris FFII 3-9X40 LRS (lighted ballistic plex reticle) on in Burris rings and Leupold steel Weaver bases. He wanted a camo paint job so I picked up some Krylon and gave it a go. Anyone think a 16 year old boy will have any problem with this rifles camo job?

for sure made a very plain rifle to a nice lookin rig, it should perform as it looks. Maybe a coat of matte clear will help and protect the paint. Been using micro clear matte cerakote with great success. Again nice hunting rifle.

It has three coats of Krylon matte clear on top of the camo paint job. I'd love to refinish the metal in some sort of finish but right now I don't have the funds available to do it.

Very handsome. I should imagine that any teenage boy would love that rifle. Good job.

You did a nice job on that one. No 16 year old with any sense would turn that one down. The .270, much like the 30-06, is seldom a bad choice. You got it covered from prairie dogs to moose.

Man, you did really well right there. Not too much that boy won't be capable of hunting with a good 270 Winchester like that in an excellent stock.

Hope you post up some pictures of the groups it shoots. What are you planning on running through it for him.

That impresses the heck out of me. I know better than to even attempt something like that. If he doesn't want it you can send it my way. Despite me shooting 30-06 and my brother shooting 270 when we were kids and me saying I'd never get caught dead with a 270 I that one will make him a good set up.

That is a fine looking rifle and a very nice gesture for a young man. Hopefully he will appreciate it enough to hand it down to a grandson. CL

I have been killing deer with a .270 Win for 50 years. My old 1949 Model 70 is a deer death ray!

Cool paint job, the kid should love it?

This is the video I watched before I attempted my paint job. It was pretty easy to follow, I sprayed everything light tan first and then went over it with sage green and flat black. I wasn't sure I liked it, but it looked a lot better with the barreled action in it and in the sunlight than it did hanging under my porch.

How to paint camouflage

Outstanding job and he should be very grateful.

...tell him if he wants to upgrade to a cerocote or other finish you'll give him a hand, "after hunting season". Be a good, easy winter project for both of you...

Scale says 8 lbs 7.1 oz with nylon sling and five rounds of 130 grain ammunition.

Fine job! I think that is awesome. Not only would the 16 year old love it, I would too. Great job Lee.

Nice paint job!
I like it and would hunt with it in a heartbeat.

That right there tells me that he'd appreciate your gesture.... Cool work! Let us know how it goes.
