POP, 22-250 Quick Load Please

Yote,

Sweet.... a -250 with a decent twist in the tube !

The 60gr B-tip should perform flawlessly..... my .223 VTR loves them....( when I can find-em )

PM returned POP, thank you.

PowerStroke, I did a little research and found out that most Bergara barrels made to fit my T/C Encore frame come in 10 twist with the exception of 7mm08 which is a 9 twist and maybe something else. They say Ed Shillen pretty much told the Spaniards how to set up operation. At least someone had their thinking cap on! Right now I'm tossing around the idea of whether or not to have it reamed out to AI or leave it unadulterated. Should shoot it a bit and decide I guess. I don't own a single component or die for this cartridge yet LOL. Talk about getting the cart in front of the horse, but it's always fun to get ready for the next toy!

Well instead of going with the Bergara 10 twist barrel, I went with a TC 12 twist 26" stainless. Loaded up some 60 grain V-max bullets this morning with Varget powder in .2 grain increments from book max down. Went to the range this afternoon, first time ever shooting anything through the barrel and am happy to say I got two 3 shot groups touching holes! Even more exciting is not only finding a good shooting load, I was able to get it sighted in at the same time! The first group I shot touched holes with 32.2 Varget then I touched holes with 33.6 grains. This gives me 3450 fps out of the muzzle with the 60 grain bullet dialed right on the money at 100 yards. Not a bad first trip to the range! I'll be taking the 250 and 204 on a prairie dog shoot in Medicine Bow, WY the last weekend of the month. Can't wait!

POP, you and your boy are invited. PM me for the details and my phone number if you're interested. I'll get you the info. I will also post some info here in the hunting section for anyone interested in attending the event. There's a banquet the night before and door prizes will be given along with some contests like the furthest prairie dog hit, etc... Check out the "Hunting" section for more info. I'm fired up!
