I apologize in advance if the Moderators feel this is not the right area for this, but I thought I would start a thread to share your hunting rig - truck, jeep, UTV - Whatever you consider your rig. We share rifles, loads, hunting pics - why not your hunting rigs???!

I just picked up a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500HD HEMI 5.7L. SLT model which is pretty basic, but still plenty fancy for me. I moved to this from a Toyota Tundra 5.7l (Best 1/2 ton, IMHO) because I needed an 8' bed and greater payload for my UTV and still be able to tow my travel trailer and gear.

2014 Nissan Frontier 4x4, 4.0 liter V6, SV package...got it last November, my first new vehicle...not a real hardcore rig, but it serves as a dual purpose vehicle....it's the only vehicle we have.

Here's my hunting rig, a 1997 GMC 3/4 EC/LB with a 7.4L. I have installed a Richmond "No-Slip" in the front diff, so when in 4x4 all 4 wheels will receive the power. I also installed a 12K winch just in case I need to get my butt out of a situation. Basically I drive to where I camp and then park it then use the quad for any travel needs while there. This pic was from 2006.

Old:

1999 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4, 5.2 liter (318) V8, 5-speed manual. Solid rig that I owned for 10+ years, happily.

New:

2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport. 6-speed manual, 3.6 V6, very basic.
I added the 4.10 gears, front air locker, rear limited slip, 10,000 pound winch, etc...

So far, in two hunting seasons, it has hauled:
4 whitetail bucks
1 mule deer buck
1 pronghorn buck
1 bear

It's proving to be a pretty good hunting rig... Sometimes I still miss the 1999 Dodge truck though... Funny how attached we get to our rigs. They take us on grand adventures.

Shoot, I still drive my 1999 Ford, 4.1 V6, 4WD, Explorer. It still has a F-150 Twin I-beam truck suspension under it and 95,000 miles. Every thing still works despite beatings it has taken in Utah and California hunting.

This is the horse trailer I use for hunting and this pic was taken last year as we were heading to coues camp.

2011 F150 Crew Cab 4x4 w/ Ecoboost
2013 Can Am Commander 1000

Love both of my rides. The canam is great at making it through tight spots. The only thing I would change is adding a windshield. I froze my butt off last elk season!

Wonder if something could be made up from plexiglass? Or if there's some kind of aftermarket windshield or cap for it?

I usually tow my '06 Jeep Wrangler to the deer lease with my '12 F250. But, I use them both during the season.

Now, hunting elk requires a different quad.

Micky,

That's the best brand of quad!
Great picture too.

Vince

Love the quads, Micky. They will get you there and take care of you after getting there.

My contribution to hunting rigs!
