Filmjunkie (Dale) is sitting in Dayville, Oregon in the path of the explosive Rail Ridge Fire. This fire is a couple miles out of town, about 3 miles currently, moving fast. Red Flag fire danger exists in that part of the state for high winds, low humidity and forcasted dry lightning. The community is under a level 3 Go now” evacuation order. Dale is not running. He and a bunch of neighbors and fire crews are prepared to fight the fire. I offered help but he thought they had what they needed. He asked for prayers.

Shooting from memory here. Looking at the fire map app the fire has gained on Dale Et. All but not in a wide front. The greatest advance has been just a little south west of town and as I recall there is a high ridge in there between town and the advancing fire. Kinda looks like the crews have kept the fire to the west of that ridge. My apps have not updated in a while but I’ll try to forward a report after sunset when they should update again.

My wife and I both have the app on our phones and look at it several times a day as we are in a very high wildfire danger zone. We also have an alert that notifies us of a new fire in our area.

Looks like the “battle lines” held over night, those protecting Dayville anyway. Fire has moved north east of town so there is potential Dayville could get cut off but that doesn’t appear likely.
