I have a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8x36 on my 30-06 which I'm going to break down soon. Is there still an interest in these old scopes? I see them on the auction sites for $250-400. It amazes me that they still draw this much? Are they still riding the Leupold wave of affection which I just never understood?

It's a decent scope and I was going to hold on to it for emergencies but if I can get $250 for it...

It's worth 200-250 bucks if its in good condition. I wouldn't hesitate to use it. I don't buy a lot of Leupolds much anymore, but I still like their low powered variables and fixed power scopes. Still think they are some of the best.

I can't imagine that you would have any difficulty getting a price near what you are asking for that particular scope. They are very good scopes. I have two that I may be offering for sale shortly--one is a VXIII and the other is a VX3. I assuredly will not be giving them away.
