I bought a couple bricks of primers today, price was much better than I thought it would be. They are not my beloved Federal Gold Metal Match but they will work.

CCI 250 Large Rifle Magnum $29.95

Win WLR Large Rifle $29.95

JD,

They're quite a bit cheaper than we pay in Canada. Reading the news this morning, I see that China is shifting their $1.9 trillion dollar currency reserve from US treasury notes to copper. In addition to hurting the US, ensuring that the cost of the stimuli packages will escalate, that can only mean that the cost of cases and bullets will shortly begin to zoom upwards. Primers will likely keep pace, especially those from Winchester and Remington. In fact, Winchester may return to the steel or tin cup at this rate.

I have not seen a brick of primers in 4 monthes, I bought 4 boxes of small pistol primers and 2 boxes of lrg rifle primers yesterday, they were the 1st primers I have seen in a month an a half. There are no 22 lr bricks to be found anywhere either. The problem of being on I-5 close to the California border, they come up here looking for stuff.

primers, you bought primers? dang, i can't even find any.-

I got notified by Midway yesterday that they had some MagTech 9-1/2 primers in stock. I went there and added 2 bricks to my cart and then went to my wish list to add the rest of the stuff I'd been wanting, trying to justify the shipping cost. Went to check out and they were out of stock on backorder again!

Maybe the best way is to find out from your local supplier when they get their shipments in. They try to be there and get your primers before they even make it to the shelf.

My buddy went to the Reno gun show yesterday and said it was stupid rediculous people were in line for one booth and the line was like over 100 yds long and another guy was trying to get 80 bucks for 1k cci 200s and people were coming in with hand trucks

and aside from that there was the usual junk

I don't know which is worse, the idiots selling or the morons buying.

I'm considering finding some suck... er, that is, discriminating buyers in order to divest myself of some of my primers. At the prices mentioned in the several threads, a couple of bricks will pay for my hunting this Spring and Fall.[/i]

The local shop next to my house went out of business last Saturday and will auction off the remainder of the inventory on the 25th. Owner died, and the estate didn't find anyone to take it over. :( I had primers on order with them but now I'll never get them, at least they didn't ask for a deposit. Sportsmans Warehouse is the next closest supplier to my house and they will not call you when primers come in. The other supplier that I know of in town wants me to pay for them up front and is telling me 60-90 days before they show up, at least he will honor the price he sold them to you for.

I'm not in bad shape on primers, I have plenty of small rifle. I have 150 CCI 250 for my .375 Ruger and about 600 CCI 200 primers for the rest of my large rifle stuff. I have as well 1000 CCI Large Rifle Bench Rest in APS strips that I bought when my favorite shop anounced they were going out of business. I'll bust them out of the strips if I have to but I'd like to trade them locally if I could.
