Primers?

Went to a small shop yesterday that carries limited amount of ammo and reloading supplies. The owner was only allowing 200 primers per customer and 2 boxes of shells. He was trying to be fair to all of his customers so if someone bought a gun from him they would be able to have ammo or reload for it. Trying to please all of his customers I could see his point. Dan.

Starting in January I unpacked the reloading stuff that's been in boxes since around 1995 when I closed the shop. There are still a few boxes of 1000 primers with $10 to $12 price tags. One cardboard can of RL7 that said Hercules on the label self destructed in the box & a metal can of IMR 4350 burned my nose when smelling it. All other powder is fine. Two lots of Federal 210s started leaking with pinholes at the radius of the primer cup. Federal says the lots are from the late 80s/early 90s & it's normal with age. Funny, there's no expiration date on them. The WW & RP stuff has all been flawless so far. Luckily I started restocking supplies earlier this year. Glad to have that carton of Ginex NATO LR just in case. Luckily I dont own anything but a 9mm that uses small primers. Guess I'll hold off on buying that AR.

Normal primers are $3.25-3.75 per 100 around here. Can find everything except SR primers...I have a few thousand CCI400s, and for as much as I shoot my 223, those will last me easily 10 years. I have a healthy supply of Benchmark for it, about 8# along with a few other pounds of IMR8208XBR and IMR/H4895. I also have around 10# of H1000 I have stashed away for my 7-300 win mag. Have around 2500 bullets for the 223 and around 2000 for the 3 7mms in the house. I've got around 1100 of the 87g VMAX for the 240 WBY. Along with 2K WLR primers and 2K CCI250 primers. Got a few pounds of H110 for the SBH 44 Mag, along with a few hundred 240g XTP and 300g Nosler JSP bullets and 500 primers. I'm sitting decent for how much shooting I do anymore anyway...Luckily it's not affecting me any right now, and by the time it's over, I'll buy stuff here and there when I see it and continue stock piling.

I'm glad I stock up whenever I can. I have several thousand of every size, and never buy less than 1000 at a time.

Sportsman warehouse if you have one near you has sale going on and the website says out of stock but my local store had multiple types of primers. I first picked up a thousand Federal 210 primers then went back later in week and got some Federal 210M and 215M. I never thought to ask if you could buy more than a thousand at a time maybe in person there is no limit. The Match primers were sold as 100 packs as they had no 1000 cases but it is same price as if you bought a brick just sold as individual packs got a good deal on some .308 partitions as well.

This was Troy MI store so I can't say what other regions have all I know was the shelf was somewhat bare on last Tuesday but was stocks quite well on Friday as the match primers were there.

They had
Federal regular and match
Winchester
CCI
Remington all in stock from small rifle, large rifle and pistol primers so if you are not too far away from a store maybe try calling them or just take a spin over to see what you can get.
