I realize not being a high end rifle, but none the less it being my only rifle and first lol, it has become a project. i had to resize the forend it was touching the barrel instead of floating so did some minor work with a mill to fix that problem, reduced the trigger from 5.75-6 lb. trigger down to 2.5. Now begins the fun part of getting her a new coat lol.View attachment project axis 006.JPGView attachment project axis 008.JPG

forgot its a rock sand matte finish, followed by med. olive striping, and 3 coats of matte clear coat

I'm always intrigued by the workmanhip demonstrated on this forum.

Very nice!

DID you duracoat?
Also what will be the second color or just spider webbing?

Looks Great! I can't wait to see the results...I'm always painting something......hell even the fridge in the Man Cave I camo'd up!

it will be a lighter olive matte have to sit down and figure out scheme, either air brush tiger it or painter tape it and cut the scheme into tape and remove cut outs :/ lol would take time but oh well used krylon fusion for stock bases coat adheres WELL to synthetic used dura for rest. took for ever to do cut outs for the scope and all the weeee lil cuts for serial and dial numbers lol

I wrap mine in rope between layers to make the pattern. It is super easy and yields softer edges than tape.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

That base color will work out fine with appropriate amounts of black, brown and grey.

I'd recommend removing the double-edged axe from the work area though. One never knows where one's temper may bring them.

that would be why i had to buy a new imoact gun lol, (was old and wore out but wasnt a good time to die on me ROFL. thanks folks have to get to town to get other colors and smaller softer rope

geh just realized my varmagedon bullets, partion, powder and rest stuff be here tomorrow when i get off work roflmao hope its dry cant load till her coat is done :)

hunter1276,

I really like that paint job a lot. I've cobbled together a .243 Win on an old 110 action w/ a take-off tupperware that'll need a hack'n'marine-tex job to shorten LOP and this thread will come in VERY handy.

Great work and thanks for sharing the steps along the way... thanks also to the gent who shared the rope trick... I think that'll come in VERY handy!

HEY, that looks interesting....! cant waat to see the whole thing and hear how she shoots! CL
