What forage contains protein, in your neck of the woods, for Mulies, or whitetail to get record racks?

Mulies in our area usually stick to bottom lands alfalfa, and winter weat fields in the winter and early spring. In the late spring through fall months they are up in the corn, milo, and sorghum fields. They tend to bed in the old CRP grass or sage brush during the day.

Alfalfa grows wild? Didn't know that..... winter weat also grows wild?

Corn, acorns and private property with limited hunting pressure.

In my neck of the woods, Western/Eastern Washington food quality is not the limiting factor, its age. They have to get past three years old to start growing horns. Statewide we do come up with a really nice Blacktail, Muledeer, or Whitetail each year or so but one could and can hunt here for many years without a real nice one. Guy lives close to some big bucks and the NE corner of the state has some good Whitetails.

When you hunt the Eastern plains of Colordo where there are quite a few fields to help the mule deer grow racks. May not grow wild but the deer prefer it to the wild browse.
