Hope that helps you out Don.

Don, get some speeds, associate them with the velocities achieved and we can probably tune you in fairly easily. Once you correlate them all, it won't take much to see where your nodes are.

Thanks Scotty, now I have to try and figure out the whole node thing.

It's easy. The nodes depends on barrel length.

So, for a 26" barrel, node 4 is 1.19 ms. Node 5 is 1.33 ms. So look at the column all the way to the right in those QuickLoad charts, and it gives you "B_Time.' That's what you are looking at.

Scotty, finally have some velocity figures for 7828 and 250 grain Partition. 84 grains 7828 gives me an average of 2852 with sd of 14.
What should I learn from this information?

Give me a minute. I'll check it out and get back.

OK fellas what exactly do you mean by the term NODE????????

A simple explanation is that it is the point where the barrel flex is at its' least or at the same point in each shot. i.e. if the flex is up/down, the node would be the point where it might consistently hit the middle, therefore giving a predictable exit point with each shot.
If that helps?

If I'm even close to understanding this if I slow her down a little I will find a more accurate, consistent load?

How do the nodes change with H1000 or maybe RL26? Just for grins. Seems 338 Win Mag like at 2700 and change.

It's funny to see all this info now. I have two 338 Baer's (almost the same as the Jarrett, probably less than 1/2gr capacity difference). The loads I shoot in the 27" barreled gun is 83grs of R-22, 84grs of 7828, and 88grs of H-1000 with 250gr Sierra's. I think the H-1000 load was the most accurate. I haven't shot either in probably 5 years or more. That is with fireformed Winchester 375 H&H brass. I had to dig through my shooting book to find them but I found a picture of the groups.
