QuickLoad Request Please

Hey fella's,

I lent my chronograph to a buddy this past weekend and got it returned with a bullet hole right through it. Haha, he felt terrible but it's no big deal, I'll just have to send it in. Anyway, I was planning on going out tomorrow to chronograph a few more loads with my .300 and can't now. I was hoping one of you kind gentlemen would be willing to run Quickload for me so I can get an idea of my velocity with the new loads. It will also be interesting to compare the Quickload projections to the velocities I recorded a few weeks ago through the chronograph.

The specs are as followed:

.300 Win. Mag
215gr Berger Hybrid Bullet
3.675" Overall cartridge length
28" Barrel
H-1000 Powder
5 cases measured for case volume averaged 92.22grs H20 (was very surprised at the consistency of the case volumes) Filled to the top of the neck

I chronographed 10 of these cartridges a few weekends ago with 76.0grs of H-1000 and they averaged 2,885 FPS, ES=12. Really curious what my loads at 77.0grs are doing. They are shooting just as well as my 76.0 gr load and still no heavy bolt lift, flattened primers, cratered primers or ejector marks. This is as high as I will be going though, don't want to kill my brass.

Results caused by ± 10% powder lot-to-lot burning rate variation using nominal charge

The QL data was within less than 3% of my measured velocities! Pretty darn good!

I made a plot on MathCAD using the data QuickLoad provided and was surprised to find that the velocity increase was a linear progression when compared to powder charge. I applied an equation to the data and found that a linear equation had a fit of 99.9%. Knowing that it was indeed linear, a simple correction coefficient can be applied to the QuickLoad data to make it fit real-world results. By doing this with my known 76.0 gr, load velocity, I determined that 77.0 grs of H-1000 should yield approximately 2,924 FPS. If it had not been linear, my computer would have to be doing overtime right now!

Will be going out shooting tomorrow, will post results; good or bad.

I'm not surprised at your find; after all, the QL data is nothing but mathematics. The more accurate the input data, the more accurate the projection. Good stuff. And I agree that the people hanging out here are first-rate.
