Made it to the range this morning with the R700 223 Wylde, 28" Bartlein HV 8 twist. Loaded up 19 more rounds with the 80.5 Berger/24.5g N540 and did a 10 shot group at 100 and a 9 shot group at 300. By the time I got to 300, the last 4 or 5 shots the wind had picked up a bit and so did the mirage. The far left shot and the 2 far shots to the right were definitely from the wind. I have not yet ran a seating depth test on these bullets, just powder charge. Started at about 20 off and went with it. Could probably do a little better with a seating depth test and less wind/mirage. The ES/SD again isn't great, gotta love the 223 for that right?! Individually weighed to the kernel on the RCBS balance beam. I'm liking the velocity N540 is producing from the 28" Bartlein. I now have 2 decent loads from this rifle with N540, the 75g ELDM at 3000 and 80.5g Berger at 2970. 5 shot groups are typically 3/8-1/2 MOA from 100-500 yards. Now comes the real fun in shooting steel from 500-1200 and getting some good dope. Comment's or criticism is always welcome!

Excellent! Good velocity, good groups. Cool coins too. :)

Rifle looks good... Plans for this rifle are targets only? Hunting of some sort?

Thanks guys. Im fairly happy with it for now. The rifle was mainly built as a 1K trainer on steel. Saves barrel life and components on the 6 Creed and 7-300 Win Mag. But it will also see the occasional local PRS/MOA matches and I'll probably take it out some this winter and see how the 75g ELDMs do on some dogs. It weighs like 17# I gotta pack em while I still can haha.

I’ve had an Impact Precision sitting around for three years now that I thought I’d build a 22 ARC around a 1:7” Bartlein #3 contour in SS I also have. My only concern is that Hornady designed it for semiautomatic AR rifles vs a long throated bolt gun and I’m probably going to have to have another Manson Precision reamer custom made in order to do that.

But yah, I have a few thousand of the 80.5 Full Bore, and LRHT bullets to feed it once I get the stock and reamer made.

I ordered a ARC/Grendel bolt for it and someone dropped the ball and sent me one for a 75° bolt throw versus the 90° action I have! It’s tough finding good help these days! (Not ordered from Tate at impact precision, but another vendor that I deal with a lot).

I heard VV N540 was the ticket with the 80.5 FB bullets. I shot my Remington Mil-Spec .223 today using VarGet and the 73 Berger BT in Lapua Match brass at 250 and put the first two into the same hole! Unfortunately that barrel only has a 1:9” twist bbl.

It’s been bedded, Huber 2 stage trigger and the action check over for how straight it was. Surprisingly it’s been a great shooter for a factory barreled gun. A lot of fun shooting it over the years on steel. That said I always wished it had more steam for the stuff beyond 600 yards particularly.

Good luck with your endeavors, looks like you’re on your way to having a lot of fun with that new toy!

Nice set up👍
Closely resembles what my son is running in his Wylde. Lapua brass , 80.5 Bergers except N140 with Fed 205M in a Howa with a PBB prefit.
