Went out today with my .300 and 6mm BR. Wind was pretty rough, gusting 10-15 MPH and with a temperature of 67 degrees F today, mirage was bad. Either way, I shot my new .300 barrel at 100 yards to confirm it shot, the result was a 1/2 MOA group. I then took both rifles to 600 to see how they shot. I'm starting to think I should have just shot BR with my .300! Vertical was a lot better on the 6mm, but that high BC .30 cal shows in wind. Dialed 1 MOA wind for the 6mm and 1/2 MOA wind for the .300.

Very nice Brian. That 300 is very nice. Any plans to try an ABLR out of it?

With everybody getting out and shooting I'm getting a little antsy to get some rifle time in.

Thanks fella's.

I want to give the 210 ABLR out of it, and try it out on an elk this year. I just have not been able to find any at any of the local stores around here. I'd also thought of trying the 129 grain out of my 6.5x47...assuming that I ever get that rifle completed.

Yeah buddy, that 210 would be something in the 300. Same with the 129. Let me know if you want some data. It looks real good on QL.

The 300 win mag is as fine a calibre as any. I was actually advised that over 75% of the B&C trophies in the last 10 years have been taken with the 300 win mag.
I think most of us have had enough of winter & being shut in we all need range time .

Blessings,
Dan

Very nice!!

Nothing wrong with the 300 mag at all. Its a time tested proven round for many applications.

6 BRs are an interesting and very efficient little cartridge themselves.

whats velocity on those 215s and what brand/length of barrel?

I chronographed them today and they were going 2885 fps for ten shots, extreme spread of 12 fps. I thought they were going to be a bit faster, but you can't beat the accuracy.

The barrel is a 28" Hart, 1-9" twist...hmm now that I think about it, I wonder if the faster twist is slowing them down a little, They would go about 2,930 in my last barrel, identical brand/length but 1-10" twist.

Picture of the latest group I shot today.

Nothing wrong with that accuracy. Extreme spread speaks of good technique and a great combination of components. Velocity is about what I would expect; it doesn't differ from your previous velocity in any significant manner.
