Went to the range with a couple buddies that have also been bitten with the long range bug. Started out shooting a couple of test groups where I adjusted seating depth in my 220 swift build. The load already was shooting 5 shot groups just over .3 inches, but I am always chasing the bughole group. Winds were a bit chaotic, gusting to 10 or 15 mph. Shooting off of a bipod and rear sandbag. This is what I got. These loads are 77 grain nosler custom competitions being pushed by Reloader 26. I was happy enough with the groups, being as the wind was a bit brutal, and I did call a couple shots where the trigger didnt break where I wanted it to.
Afterwards we stretched the rifles out to 1200 yards, and normally I hit the majority of the time, but the winds were extremely prevalent, and changing. The steel was up on the top of a ridge, and we had tailwind along with side winds downrange. They did very interesting things to the bullets. I was impressed. But we did manage to get some hits. The percentage was down, for sure, but still a lot of fun.
