Got back home from the Barry Fire (after 30 days),the day before yesterday, got my stuff cleaned up and put away and got some shooting in. As I have not remounted the scope on the STW, and have not fired a 600+ group with the Nosler PT in the 300 win mag, I started with it. I was shooting prone off of a foam pad. From the yard. While shooting the string I noticed a fair amount of dust, (in front of the target) but the wind was in my face from the east so I thought little about it. When I arrived at the target, there were no holes, none in the target or the backstop. While pondering this problem I noticed bullet impact divites in the edge of the road the target was placed on. Thinking my last elevation adjustment to the dial was in error I gathered up the target and moved it to my other flat spot ( a quarter of a mile away from this one) and moved the target there. This takes quite a few min, because the flat spots are on different hills almost a mile apart by road. Its now getting warmer, and I am already tired of the heat. As I readied my rifle for the second three shot group I checked the dial and found it was set on 510 yards, not 620, which probably accounted for the very low bullet path. But I went ahead and fired my second three shot group. It came in at 2.5 inches to the right and about the same low, not bad for 310 yards. The nice part was that center to center was 1.89 inches. A couple of clicks to the left and up and its ready to try again.
The wind is up again and I will be gone for a few days, so I will post the picture as soon as the old women gets in loaded to the computer.
