I went to the range after work today to finish up a few loads and start on the .243 and 95 Btips. The results were good in every rifle and I feel that I have two solid loads developed. I also shot dad's 25-06 to make sure it was shooting well and it shot a .7 and a .8" group so he is ready to shoot it and take it hunting.
22-250-52 Custom Comp/39.0gr of Varget
This was the best group of the day. The other two were nice but not picture worthy.
243-95 Btip and IMR4350
41.0gr-.448"
41.5gr-.578"
42.0gr-.644"
(I forgot my bipod for the chronograph at home. Darn it)
I think I am on to something here.
35 Whelen-250 Hot Cor/56.0 of Varget
(Last time this load shot .463")
I learned that bag placement for this rifle is critical. The first loads I had it to far back and the groups opened up. I then placed it just behind the forearm and shot a 1.392" with 2 touching and 1 out. The one out could have been me. With that group and the .463", I think I can call it good and take it on a few deer drives this fall. I also tried to catch a bullet but it slipped out the side on milk jug #6. I have a coworker bringing me a pile of jugs so I can try it again soon.
Any thoughts or ideas to improve what I have or things to try next?
