Re: 280AI

Corlanes knows what they are doing I can't imagine that they wouldn't chamber it for the Nosler version. When I did some looking around on the two versions some say there is a difference and others say there isn't. I would imagine that like with pretty much any former wildcat there are going to be variations on older guns that could cause a problem with the Nosler brass.

It is a great round that I have thought a lot about but since Rem Jim just sent some 270 Wby dies I guess we know where that's going ;) Now we just need a nice LH 270 Win for my wife :)

What dies did you get, Dan? That will be more critical than the chamber, I should think. You won't have any problem with the chamber.

The Nosler brass won't chamber in my rifle. Part of the problem is that my chamber is very tight, by design.
I think the 280 Rem Nosler brass may just work. I have plenty of R-P 280 Rem brass so I just fire form it and don't look back.

I purchased RCBS dies for this 280AI. I know that my other dies manufactured by RCBS are fine. Now I wish I could get Forster dies but they do not manufacture 280AI.

Blessings,
Dan

gerry according to that article I have RCBS dies that are made for the Nosler version (SAAMI) of the 280AI which I really don't have a problem with but I am not sure which reamer Rocky Mountain Rifle used. I will email & request that information:)!!

Blessings,
Dan

That would be a good idea to talk to both RMR Corlanes and RCBS. I can't imagine both haven't switched to the Nosler version.

gerry according to the article if the RCBS are stamped 280AI than they are Nosler version and mine are stamped that. I will have to confirm with Corlane on which reamer they used hoping it is Nosler SAAMI. If they used old version & with have to special order from Redding if I read the article right!

Blessings,
Dan

I have been buying Redding dies recently because I was having trouble with the RCBS seating stem design.

Charlie I may have to pick up Redding if it was reamed old style. It is not a real big deal except I will have to order them in from US which could take a little time . I will then have to sell the RCBS if I can:)! They were almost 100.00 if I remember right.
I guess I did not research this as thoroughly as I should have :(

Blessings,
Dan

I have Redding dies marked 280 REM IMPROVED 40* #80428

Sounds like one awesome rifle Dan. What are the specs on it, barrel, contour and such?

I think this should be a perfect compliment to your Whelen. Talk about two rifles that cover everything.

All of the RMR rifles Mike has shown have been beautifully built and truly good rifles. Can't wait to see yours as well.

The colour, Dan, the colour! Pea green with purple and pink stripes. Sorry I didn't have my camera with me on Friday! Oh, I can't rid my eyes of the image!

Mike those are the new Provincial colours for Saskatchewan .
I am just waiting for a email back regarding final billing. They are not cheap but the work is impeccable. I was dealing with Rod but now Tim has taken over.

Blessings,
Dan

That sounds really awesome Dan! Just an awesome build. Can't wait to hear about the first range day!

Well, it has to be better than NDP orange!

You sure have that right my friend . People have short memories forgetting how we were bleeding people & money for so many years. I know that it is a little easier when oil & gas are booming but you still need the industry confident in the Government in order to make it go.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan, there would be no oil and gas boom if the eco-freaks were still in power. Leaf lickers don't approve of seeing people earn wealth; they want to dole out just enough to keep everyone subservient to their eco-masters.
