I finally got around to making my cartridge choice on a re-barrel I'm doing on my Winchester Featherweight.
6.5 Creedmoor.
Anybody here play with one?
My bullet choices will be 123 A-Max(bc.510) for targets/varmints. sorry Nosler
I'll try the 130 Berger hunting VLD(bc .552) 130NAB(bc .488) and 125NPT(bc .449) for antelope/deer load.
Should be able to drive those bullets to 2900+ fps
First powder I try will be H4350, I use that in a lot of my rifle and have a lot on hand.

Randy,

I've only done break-in so far. My hunting partner won't let me have his rifle to do load development. However, I'm supposed to get his wife's 7mm-08 Mannlicher shortly. My first impression was positive.

Congratulations on the new project. The 6.5mm Creedmore is an impressive round.

Randy, that cartridge sounds like a great one. Never seen one or shot one, but those smaller 6.5's do some really amazing things. Looking forward to seeing what they do for you. Those 264's are some sweet bullets and really seem to perform really well.. Scotty

pics my gunsmith sent me, Shipping it back to me Tuesday, I should have it in my hands soon

Looks nice, looking forward to seeing your range results. What bullets do you plan on using?

Test target he shot was .319" with 140 A-max
I plan on trying 123gr A-max and 130 Berger hunting VLD

Sounds like it will be a good shooter, lots of guys like the Bergers for hunting should be good.

Man, that rifle looks GREAT! Sounds like it is going to be one excellent shooter! Looking forward to seeing how it does. Scotty

Nice... I'd think a 130 gr hunting bullet from an accurate, good looking rifle is going to put a smile on your face - with venison on the deck!

Lilja #4 contour 1-8 twist 3 groove

A buddy of mine swears by Lilja barrels. He's had success from them for a long time now - at least twenty years of using nothing but Lilja... His rifles always shoot well.

I keep thinking that someday I'm going to buy something other than a .308 barrel, and swap it onto my Green Machine. The 6.5 Creedmoor is a very tempting alternative.

Careful Guy Miner - once you go from a 308win/Ballistic Brick to a 6.5CM It is VERY HARD to look back.... I speak from exp.

Rifleworx,

Welcome to the forum; it's good to see another rifle crank posting here. You are correct in your assessment of the Creedmoor; it is a fine cartridge. Just about any of the 6.5 mm (.264 calibre) cartridges shoot better than they should.

Hi Rifleworx
Welcome to the family.
Everybody this is the guy that built my 6.5CM for me.
Excellent gunsmith and all around nice guy.
Hoping to get back east next year for a whitetail hunt with him.

Randy
