Moose, Elk, Black Bear, Deer, Whatever.

This is the latest iteration from my 325 WSM. It launches a 220 grain Swift A-Frame at about 2750 fps.

Yeah, I think it would work at least as well as the 200 grain Partition I've been toting for the past several seasons, and that has accounted for several moose and elk.

The 35 Whelen loaded with 225 grain Sierra Game Kings was performing as expected. Another good load ready to go.

Noah shot 140 grain Partitions in his 260 Remington. It is giving him MOA, so that is the load he will be toting from now on.

In all, a good day at the range.

That looks pretty darn good to me Mike!..You are ready pal!

Oh sweet! 220 A-Frame! I was hoping you'd give it a whirl!

Noah sounds ready to go!

...you need to try some of the 250gr. Woodleighs, Dr. Mike (so I don't have to)... :p

Hmmmmm. I have a number of Woodleigh bullets--196 grain, 200 grain and 220 grain, but no 250 grain bullets. Send me a few, Gene.

Mike,

Good show. Looks like you are ready for anything.
Best of luck to the both of you.

Big holes from big bullets, clumped close together. What's not to like?

Good shooting!

Guy

DrMike, nice group! What do you get out of your .338 Federal and 210 Partitions for muzzle velocity?

Charlie, I'm getting ~2550 with either the 200 grain AccuBond or the 200 grain E-Tip in my 338 Federal. The 210 grain Partition is approximately identical. However, I get superior accuracy with the aforementioned bullets.

I'd like to see one of those pulled from the water jugs...

I have some old 225 grain Normas that I've never loaded. They might be interesting at some point. However, the 250 grain Woodleighs with a stiff charge would be a fearsome load Scotty. The 220 grain A-Frames deliver a pretty good recoil as it is; and I imagine they will give a hearty "thwack" to game. I know the 200 grain Partition drops moose and elk right smartly.

I am with you Mike. I would be all over the 220 Swift's were I to ever acquire a 325WSM. Seems like a do it all sorta bullet for elk and moose.

I see Northfork has a 180, 200 and 220 available as well.. Kinda blows the theory there isn't enough great 8mm bullets out of the water..

I could imagine the 250's would be pretty lively in the Featherweight, that is for sure.

The felt recoil on the 325 WSM with these Swifts and the felt recoil on the 35 Whelen with 280 grain A-Frames is similar. Either one has a pretty good kick at the bench. I suspect either will put a pretty good smack down on game. I'm likely carrying my 9.3X64 with 250 grain ABs this week, however. I want to hit and hit hard when I do see something. Plus, that rifle simply needs to be blooded.

You don't make me feel too bad about all of the middle bore sized cartridges at all!

Three rifles are vying for focused attention this fall--the 9.3X64, the 35 Whelen and the 325 WSM. Any of these will get the job done, performing with aplomb to deliver a devastating blow to whatever happens to be in the way of the projectile it launches. I have several others in the wings, chomping at the bits to be used (270 WSM, 280 Remington (two), 7mm WSM, 338 Federal, 358 Winchester and 350 Rem Magnum), any if which will work just fine.

The first two shots were one jagged hole. I may have pulled that third shot slightly. However, i'm suggesting it is a true assessment of the load and the shooter.
