Recoil Pads?

Looking more for "how to" advice. I won't rehash the brand types as I'm pretty set on the Simms units. I'm looking to replace the one on my .300RUM wich is a M700 Sendero. Appears this is not a "direct" unscrew and screw on style.
#1 how do I get the current one off?
#2 is there direct replacement that doesn't need sanding?
#3 how does the new unit get secured?

There should be 2 screws holding the pad on now.You may have to poke around a bit looking for the softer spots (keep your minds out of the gutters!!).Yes the Limbsaver comes in a direct replacement that just screws right back up,make sure to use the original screws,not the ones that come with the new pad.I always lube up the screwdriver with some Armor-All so it doesnt get caught on the rubber pad.Very easy process,and they make a world of difference.

Stop Now (unfortunately experience talking)!! The sendero recoil pad is not screwed on. There is an aluminum spacer between the recoil pad and the stock and is not solid. Therefore, the Simms Limbsaver will not work on the sendero as it needs to be against a solid butt such as the BDL or ADL. I ended up using a grind to fit Kick EZ pad on mine after the gunsmith cut mine to fit my length of pull and install a solid spacer which the pad was glassbedded or epoxyed to.

Thank you and thats what I needed to know..... if I could do it myself or not....doesn't appear so.

Remmy.....All my Rem 700's are that way except this Sendero... H-S stock if I'm not mistaken?

I'd run it to the closest gunsmith, EXCEPT he still has a .260 of mine that is getting built and has had it for ALMOST two years now to just screw another barrel on....
